Accommodation

We will accommodate participants in civil defence bunkers or in the homes of students. Accommodation costs are included in the participation fee. Please note: a sleeping bag is necessary for both types of accommodation! You may indicate preference for either type of accommodation during the registration. We will try to consider your preferences, as much as possible.

The civil defence bunkers are quite modest (details below). Accommodation in students’ own homes may incur greater travel times and costs. In the case of homestay accommodation, we will communicate contact information; the arrival and the details of accommodation are for the participant to agree on with his or her respective host.

Of course, participants are welcome to find their own accommodation during the stay. This is the third option offered by the registration. Two possibilities are listed below.

Civil Defence Bunkers

Both Civil Defence Bunkers contain two dormitories, each with 24 bunkbeds. You must bring a sleeping bag! (There are no sheets; a blanket costs an extra fee). There are of four showers in total. The dormitories as well as the bathing/sanitary facilities will be gender-divided.

There is a common room (with no window - the bunkers are underground). There is however no possibility to cook, as well as no internet access in the civil defence accommodation. Coffee and internet access are offered during the conference from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the conference office in the main building of the University (KOL).

Alternative Accommodation

Hotel marta is a small hotel located 10 minutes by foot from the conference’s location. Hotel marta offers our conference participants twin or triple rooms at reduced prices until mid May.

The Zurich Youth Hostel offers single travellers beds in 4 or 6 bed dormitories.  Those travelling in groups of two or three are offered however in Hotel marta better conditions, for several nights.
